ABOUT US

An organization created by bringing together enthusiastic dog handlers who want to help in missing persons searches, using specially trained search dogs.

We work in cooperation with the State Police of Latvia.

Every team - a dog and its handler - goes through several stages of training. The team must be able to work together and rely on one another. They must demonstrate successful teamwork and pass the association’s internal certification in order to be authorized to participate in real-life situations and search operations.

In addition, every association member receives essential training in first aid for people, first aid for dogs, GPS, map and compass navigation, general theory of working with dogs, orientation, and other important areas.

Every member is required to regularly attend weekly training sessions, as well as training exercises held several times a year in cooperation with professionals from other countries and specialists from various fields within our own team.

Dog certification is how we ensure that only dogs that are capable of performing search work, along with handlers and other association members they can rely on, are deployed in real search operations.

Certification is divided into several levels for mantrailing dogs and one level for area search dogs and cadaver dogs. The area search certification is a particularly demanding assessment, designed to closely reflect the conditions of a real missing person search.

Dog assessments are conducted once a year.
